The love we give
away is the only love we keep.
11 June 2021 06:26am With nostalgic feelings, I recall how beautiful it was growing up in the 70s. So many activities to remember and look forward to. One of them was the visit of the President. For whatever reason, ...and the President came. The preparation to welcome the President was like none other. Children were made to line the streets of the major Roads in their school uniforms, just to welcome the President, catch a glimpse of him, proudly waving the green white green flag of the Federal Republic of Nigeria...and the President came. I recall how my mom of blessed memory, would iron my brown khaki uniform, bring out the whitest of all my socks (in retrospect, I think she used to keep a particular pair of white socks for the visit of the President🤔), polish my brown Cortina shoes shining like a beautiful mirror, you could almost see yourself in them, as you walk majestically in them, all eyes on you as...and the President came. Please could you explain this further ? I'd be honored if you could 😊.
ReplyDeleteLet me reply with a short story. There once was little girl who was being maltreated by an aunt she lived with. A young lady (her aunt's neighbor) noticed the horror this little girl was going through and secretly gave her (in her own little way) the love she lacked. This lady went as far as buying drugs to cure her little headaches and pain and taking personal care of this little girl. The lady's friend told her it was a wasted effort, she should concentrate her attention on her own future. She was never discouraged and gave all of herself. Some years later, the little girl's aunt died mysteriously and she was to be given up for adoption as her root could not be traced. She would not go with anyone else except to her aunt's neighbor who had shown her so much love like no one else. The good luck she brought into this lady's life cannot be described. This is just a side to the logic. No one can ever forget a show of true love. You can not keep it if you do not give it.
